MASTER DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2003

Cal State Fullerton looked to its future - what changes should or shouldn't be made - to ensure that the campus' physical facilities would meet its needs and support its mission and goals.

To do that, the university invited interested campus members to attend a series of Facilities Master Development Plan forums. President Milton A. Gordon introduced the Master Development Planning Process at a Kickoff meeting on Thursday, October 12, 2000. The President urged the audience to participate in the decision-making process. AC Martin Partners, the planning consultant, working with the university, discussed the need for and the approach to the master development plan. Discussion was initiated with several scenarios for the university's future displayed via computerized models.

These and more discussions have occurred, first at campus forums which sought input from the campus community regarding the university's present condition, identifying current needs and at subsequent visioning workshops over two years. The principles defined in these meeting were incorporated into the development of several alternative growth scenarios for the campus. AC Martin Partners directed and acted as facilitators of these issue identification forums.

The master plan, which provides a framework for implementing the university’s goals and programs by identifying needed facilities and improvements to support growth and development, was approved Wednesday, November 19, 2003 by the California State University Board of Trustees
