Space and Facilities Database (SFDB)

What is SFDB?

Space and Facilities Database (SFDB) is a CSU systemwide inventory of each campus physical resources. It serves as the official central record for current physical inventory data and provides information about facilities and spaces at the campuses.

SFDB includes “Facility” files and “Space” files. A “facility” is a particular building. A “space” usually corresponds to a single room.

Why SFDB is important?

  • SFDB serves as the foundation of the annual capital outlay program process
  • SFDB is used in the analysis of space needs, space utilization and other space and facility related issues and reports
  • SFDB is used by state government agencies, campus administrators and outside vendors to provide information regarding facilities planning and construction processes.

How SFDB is maintained?

  • Campus Space and Facilities Planner submits changes in spaces and facilities to the Chancellor’s office annually during a fall reporting window.
  • Chancellor’s office review and approve campus’ submission, and update the SFDB.
